Thread: Engine bogging on uphill starts

Default Engine bogging on uphill starts

Alright, everytime I slip my clutch on inclines, my engine bogs and wants to die. Previously the car threw a CEL that said my engine was running lean, but eventually the CEL went away itself.

Could a lean engine be causing the problem?

Bogging on a hill, and the fact that you are/were running lean, immediately makes me think it's the fuel filter. Have you replaced it ever? What's the mileage on the vehicle?

    Forgot about this thread.

The problem was indeed a dirty MAF. Sprayed the MAF with a MAF cleaner and changed the air filter. No more dangerous uphill starts.
