Default My 450sx or fankenstien, whichever.

So i decided it was finally time to post up a little picture thread about my car on here.

For those of you that are interested. A build thread can be found on the front page of NICO, or at this link... http://www.d-town.us/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3635

But here is a quick rundown on the car.

The engine is a VH45DE out of an Infiniti q45.
Here are a few pics of the build to get you started.

Click the build link for more

Anyways.. on with the whoring.

What i've been up to on the car most recently (otherwise read the build thread)

vv Installed one of these recently so I can tell when to shift.

Bought a shit ton of tires and went to an event on stock blown suspension.. I sucked.

Small tight auto-x courses >> no powersteering.

Then I got some of these.

And borrowed some wheels from a buddy while his car is outta commission. And did some more…

Then we took some pictures!

And a video of the sound this thing makes.

My Noisy Car

Very nice. I'm liking everything about this car. Wheels looks great but of course you can always stuff more aggressive wheels.

WOW! I LOVE this project and that sound is great! Can I get one of those Q45 motors into a j30? How much power does it make?

I dont see why not. I'm sure it would fit no problem. The earlier engines made 330 tq and 310hp at the flywheel. 10.1:1 compression and revs to 6900. Can supposedly rev to 7400 safely with a tune.

So does your car handle different? I mean is this V8 a lot heavier than the 4-cylinder motor that was in it? When you bought your suspension, did you take the added weight into account?

This is an awesome project. Great work.

It's really not much heavier since it's an all aluminum block. The engine is actually lighter than the vg30 (the v6 from the 300zx). So i guess you could compare it to an RB being swapped in. Maybe a little lighter.

Yes, when i bought my coilovers i got a little bit stiffer spring rate, 9k front and 7k rear. My friend drove it who has an SR swap and said its handling is very similar. It's obviously going to be a bit heavier in the front though.

Thanks

It's like a Japanese vette! I checked out your thread on dtown...wow...inspirational to a newbie-car-guy like myself, exactly the kind of project and mix of work that I hope to do before too long. This is essentially a project I tossed around last year but with a j30 and a maybe a front-clip from the jdm j30 with a V8...if I could go to a junk-yard and find a q45 motor then I'd really be pleased.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Hope to see more of this car...like a twin turbo setup

Nice car and a cool swap. BTW those roads are bad ass. Did you take any pics of the pig tails there? Any of spearfish canyon road (the road that goes from near Lead(14A) to Spearfish? I went out there in my Vette last summer for a BIG corvette gathering and ran those back roads with a few of my Corvette friends. Best roads I have ever driven...period.

Yes, iron mountain road and needles highway are AMAZING roads. And the drive through spearfish canyon is awesome too. The forum in Rapid puts on some cruises every once in a while through there.

I have TONS of pictures of the pigtails.
